Survey on Betanodavirus in Wild Fish Species in the Turkish Coastlines of the Mediterranean Sea and Molecular Characterization: detecting different genotypes from different fish in different locations

Viral nervous necrosis is a viral disease caused by betanodavirus causing deaths and epidemics in wild or farmed sea fish, especially juveniles. Betanodavirus has been detected European seabass gilthead seabream Turkey. However, there are no studies on the presence of wildlife along Turkish Mediterranean coast. This study aimed to investigate fish coast characterize isolates using molecular tools. Hence, 400 belonging 27 different species were caught tested real-time RT‒PCR. The genome was red mullets (25/50) garfish (2/4) identified as RGNNV RGNNV/SJNNV genotype, respectively according partial sequencing RNA1 RNA2 segments. Phylogenetic analysis showed that isolated viruses similar collected from other parts Sea China, India, Japan. results show genotypes circulating studied region species. These findings indicates more research wildlife, both around farm regions, needed prevent spreading virus aquaculture facilities.
